Energy Efficiency in Historic Buildings

January 21, 2016 @ 11:30 am - 1:00 pm

Free

Energy efficiency and renewable energy works extremely well in historic buildings. Even better there are targeted programs that will help you make upgrades even more cost effective. AlabamaSAVES and the Historic Preservation Tax Credit!

Join USGBC Alabama and the Alabama Center for Sustainable Energy to learn how the AlabamaSAVES Program can help subsidize the cost of financing energy retrofits and improvements to your existing buildings, including rehabilitation of historic properties.

Greg Montgomery from Abundant Power/CleanSource Capital will provide an overview of the AlabamaSAVES Program and present case studies to demonstrate how the Program can finance a wide array of energy efficiency measures being installed into existing commercial buildings as well as historic building rehabilitations in order to make these buildings as modern and energy efficient as possible.

Historic Preservation consultant David Schneider will also join us for a discussion of the synergy among the incentive programs. In the case of historic properties, the AlabamaSAVES subsidy has been used along with federal and state historic tax credits to make the cost of the rehabilitation and modernization of the building energy systems even that much more affordable.

Learn more about each program and how to take full advantage of both.
